In 1st gear, ~2000 RPM, push in clutch, shake/jerk, normal?
So I'm not sure if this is just me being paranoid, but I've searched the forums, and I think I've found some evidence that this is normal, but I'm just checking to make sure.
When I'm in first gear, and trying to get into second somewhere around 2000 RPM, pushing in the clutch all the way causes shake/lugg/something to happen between what I sense to be the engine and the transmission.
1) This doesn't happen when pushing in the clutch for any other gears.
2) I can prevent this from happening if I push the clutch down only enough to disengage it, but not all the way down.
3) This doesn't happen if I go near or over 3000 RPM when in first gear.
Everything seems fine otherwise.
EH?
Thanks

I shift out of 1st usually higher than 3000 rpm - closer to 4500 typically - but that's the only gear I do that high on a routine basis. I'm usually accelerating harder out of 1st than other gears and will continue accelerating in 2nd - I don't want to drop into second below 2500 rpm. There is a mechanical response expected when you shift - if you haven't dropped rpms in the middle of the shift the engine is going too fast for the wheel rotation and the wheels provide a new braking force on the transmission and through to the engine and its mounts so the engine "bucks" a little. On my Audi A6 the shift lever would kick a little - if you'd look at the engine you'd see it kick a little. This is normal and the engine is on rubber mounts to let it do this.
Now this isn't a huge kick. I'd look at another to see if your's is excessive.
