I had it installed, un-installed it for warranty work (ticking engine TSB). they didn't detect anything and that TSB is ALL ABOUT retuning the ECU. So, if they didn't know when they were re-programming my ECU then we should be fine.

Now, if you're an idiot and leave it installed...YMMV

A good OBDII code reader should be able to read the VIN recorded in the ECU.

glad it worked for you, and i hope that the G does not have the separate "black box" that the gtr has, but i'm hesitant to install it until someone who KNOWS can give us an answer to this. it sounds like it's not detecable based on your experience (after uninstall) and that's great news, but i know that subaru can find the cobb AP as well as nissan on the GTR. i am this >< close to getting the hypertech as long as i can be sure that an uninstall makes it totally and 100% undetectable.

Thanks for the info - so off to autozone or similar, I guess, see if they can read my VIN...

It's a nice day today..
I drove it with the new programming.
I turned the 0-60 throttle restriction off too.
I did not do a lot of driving yet, just to work this morning, and a little expressway driving.
In my opinion, I think I sense more power..
Off the line, it does not do that 'power-stall-and burst of power' thing..
I think the best way to describe it is: Linear Power
I was not spinning my wheels any more than before.
But I think I got up to speed quicker.

Again, not scientific.. and no numbers to prove anything.
I will drive later to get more of a sense of it.
Not a dramatic change.. but what do we realistically expect..
And, nothing feels worse off as a result.

Not the local autozones, etc. I went to my local Nissan place and had them reprogram the ECMs VIN for 100 bucks out of pocket. I now just paid list for the hypertech, lol. I wonder if I can get infinit. To apy for the reprogrammi g since it was indeed their oversight. The VIN was incorrectly entered.

Hey guys,
New to the forum after getting an 09 G37xS sedan back in March. Got rid of a 328i that I really enjoyed driving, but lovin this G!

Really great stuff here. Not sure if this would apply, but I've been wondering myself so... In the System Diagnostics Menu > Calibration and Adjustments Menu - there is an option > Delete Unit Connection Log...

Might this hide any record of the HyperTech install or is this for other connection types?

I thought all of those adjustments were only tied to the navigation/display/auto temp control unit in the dash and not the actual engine ecu.

The hp gains are pretty trivial. From that graph the most noticeable gain is in the low end torque.

Yup, and just imagine the increase once they get intakes, and hfc (y/n), test pipes (y/n) and exhaust (y/n) options done...
