VQ37VHR Engine Replacement?
As many auto makers are trying to go more " green " these days due to emission reductions, I'm starting to think what is going to happen to the next generation G's engine. As many of you are aware, our engines do pump out a significant amount of HP, but it is a bit low on the torque department.
Since the introduction of BMW's twin turbo'ed 3.0L inline 6 engine, they were able to get 300 hp / 300 torque out of the engine. Recently, Audi as has dropped a bomb.... a big one. The new 2010 Audi S4 has a supercharged 3.0L V6 engine that cranks out 333HP, and 325 torque @ 2500 - 5200 rpm.
Having said that, they are able to get more HP, torque and perhaps even gas mileage in some sense. Nevertheless, I'm not saying our G engine's are bad at all. Really, I'm not. I'm just wondering what Infiniti is going to do with our next generation's power plant. Bumping up the displacement will do the trick in giving more performance, but it will also increase gas mileages.
With automakers starting to introduce more forced induction into their cars, I really have high hopes that the next generation G is going to get a turbo or super charger of some sort. What do you guys think?
Summary:
BMW 335i: 3.0L Inline 6 Twin Turbo ( 300HP / 300 torque @ 1400 rpm )
Audi S4: 3.0L V6 Supercharged ( 333 HP / 325 torque @ 2500 rpm )
Infiniti G37S:3.7L V6 Naturally Aspirated ( 330 HP / 270 torque @ 5200 rpm )
Oh for those that are intrested in seeing a comparison between the S4 and 335i, Edmunds just made a review. Check this out:

BB's right about direct injection. Don't forget about the new Ford Taurus SHO. I'm might not been in the same class luxury wise but the new engine beats out all three you listed above.
3.5L V6 24valve DOHC Direct Injection 365HP@5550rpm / 350lb/ft TQ @1500-5250.

Engine comparison thread again? This is like what... #10? And why are people keep saying VHR motor's TQ low? C'mon, NA motor to FI motor... simple as that.
BTW, you should compare the power curve of the VHR motor to those FI'd motors... NOT the peak TQ.

120 hp diff between .1L??? wth?? really wooow that would jus kill the GTR market huh.....G37x twin turbo?? who needs a GTR now the G37 is a skyline GT N/A of course.... skyline GTR is twin turbo (R34) GTR (R35) is twin turbo.......hmmmmmm yeah who needs a GTR too expensive.....for .1L difference........on that note I think very unlikley to happen

ever heard of a GTST? GT25T? No? They're RWD turbo skylines. the R in GT-R is not because of the turbo or the AWD, it's because of BOTH. You can have a turbo Skyline that is not an R and a AWD non-turbo that is also not an R. There are so many variations to the Skyline that many people do not know exist.
Now, the whole 120hp difference is simply in tuning. Small turbos, less boost, etc. It's very well possible. the 360hp is just a figure. Even so, if they were to make a Turbo 370Z with around 380-400hp, it's still much less than 480hp for a GT-R. Not to mention it will not have anywhere near the same 0-60 times of a GT-R. HP and 0-60mph numbers is what most people will look at when purchasing a sports car.
Stick a JB3 map 7 tune, exhaust/downpipe and bigger intercooler in a stock 335i and what do you get? a big boost in power. 280whp stock vs. 380+whp with simple tune and bolt ons. Same concept with the GT-R vs Turbo 370Z.
