I'm in the same boat as well, but they keep saying it's normal or they can't reproduce the gear grinding. Let us know how this works out for you and maybe we can get a invoice number or something to prove that this a real issue.

Engine falling out, that's normal because they all do it. Dealers will do anything to get out of warranty work.

My 5th gear synchro was toast so they just replaced the tranny no questions asked! However, the car does not seem to be as powerful now and runs "quiet". It feels liek there is a block in the exhaust. Could an exhaust leak cause this? I also get a rattling under the car now when engaging the clutch from a stop.

I'm still not sure what you mean by "whining" noise. I'm taking my car in for more of a rattling noise that comes from the engine bay when I'm in neutral and my clutch isn't engaged. When I push and hold down the clutch, it goes away.

Does the "whining" noise pop up between shifts while driving? I noticed a sound when going from 1-2...sounds kinda like a BOV but faint. Thought it was normal...but now I notice it going from 2-3 as well.

squeek/woosh type of sound? That would be your (stock) intakes.

The Autos do it as well between shifts, and is easier to notice at low speeds with relatively high load. At high speeds, wind/road/tire noise will drown it out.
