What RPM do you shift?

What RPM do you shift?
according to the dyno sheet for g37s with fastintentionCF.
pretty much our cars pull to the end but what i heard was people shift at 4900rpm where torque goes down
it's just minor but im just curious
what rpm do you guys shift when you pull up to the MAX

It's a constant variable; it all depends on what you want to do, how fast you want to accelerate, what speed you want to get to... Are you trying to drive economically? Are you driving spirited? Racing?
Just like an automatic holds the gear a long time when your driving aggressively for acceleration, you would do the same.
When an automatic is just cruising easily, the gears change quickly and at low rpm's; you would do the same.
Keep all that in mind and practice, feel and listen to the machine; it will tell you when to shift.
The lowest RPM I shift for economy around town is 2200, normally around 2500-3000, 4000-5000 for real spirited driving in good conditions. up to 7500 for a good adrenaline rush...

thanks for the info though. but i have been driving manual for 6 years now. i just want to understand the dyno sheet and trying to find a minor power loss from shifting at a certain RPM alot of people think accerelating agreesively is just shifting right before redline but as you can see on dyno sheet our car has low torque after 5~6k. since powerband goes down at that rpm in my opinion, shift at 6k and rpm goes down to 5k ish then power can continusly go up at next gear. if im wrong correct me.

Except from first to second, shifting near red line will produce the best times so no, even though your landing in peak torque range, the horsepower up high accumulating will accelerate the car faster unless its boosted and that changes...
I installed a Stillen stage 3 on my last G, and it pulled hard all the way till redline; this 09 is not as strong as the 08 with the intake(s).
(New Stillens on the way)

You need to look into Rear-wheel torque, this is more important than engine torque for what you're talking about. RWT is affected by gearing. So shifting before redline, maybe you're making more engine torque, but gearing will make your RWT less.

damn htown, you moved fast on that VR... glad everything turned out ok
and just like he said, our cars need that top end pull to be fast, where as something that is boosted, it starts tapering off near the top of the RPM range
