What exactly is the definition of riding clutch?

So I've had my g37 for a little over two weeks now and it happens to be my first time ever driving stick. I'm real comfortable driving now and i shift cleanly (except every once in a while lol). But now I'm just wondering what "riding clutch" exactly so I know if I'm actually driving it correctly? Thanks

Basically leaving your foot on the clutch pedal all the time, even when not shifting.

If you are riding the clutch you are causing the friction surface of the disc to be burn. It makes an awful smell and causes premature wear to the the disc friction surface if done more than occasionally. If you do it a few times you won't have any serious damage. If you do it a lot, expect to replace your clutch more often than normal.

To experience what it's like, rev your car up to 3K RPM in 1st with your pedal fully depressed and slowly release the clutch. As soon as it begins to grab and move the car forward, hold it in the position for several seconds. You will move forward slowly but the clutch isn't fully engaged, and yo will smell burning clutch. That;s riding a clutch.

Best of luck.

If you can smell your car, you are riding it.

Seriously, just means applying light pressure to your clutch in between shifting. It causes pre mature wear and can smell quite bad.

Of course with our cars' weak *** clutch, you can smell the same thing by doing a drop clutch launch at around 4k rpm. This car needs a better clutch for real...

A clutch is a small purse, riding it is sporting one and a strong indication that you are most likely gay if you're male and doing it. Doesn't anyone use google anymore. Ride the Clutch.

yeah, what gamer said. your foot is not supposed to be on the clutch at all unless you are shifting gears.
