I am Sorry, for being a post *****, I was just asking a question. I too am skeptical about what the co worker said. I been a member since jan. of 08 and only posted 56 post compared to whom ever made that comment who has posted close to 3000.... I check out this forum everyday almost. Anyways, thank the rest of you for your input and explanations. The guy from work also said to check out YouTUBE about it which I will.

Amatuer chemistry can be very dangerous. You'd be surprised what will explode when mixed in the right proportions. Great example is chlorine tablets and chlorine granules. Mixed with water in an open container and it makes deadly chlorine gas, sealed container and it will explode. Or pouring organic motor oil on chlorine granules and it will catch on fire all by itself. You'd be surprised what you learn working at a pool supply store :P
I say stick to putting gasoline in your G like it was designed to have instead of trying some ebay chemistry kit to improve power/mpg. You may do something wrong and cause someone and/or yourself to get hurt. Remember, the Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen and we see how that ended. HIGHLY flamable, more than gasoline.

You can do a quick google seach and find you are mistaken. Or take a basic 5th grade science class. Yes salt will increase the conductivity of the water and help produce hydrogen gas, but if you remember from grade school. It will take about 20 minutes just to fill a small balloon. Such a slow reaction rate is pointless. All of the hydrogen generators on the market for cars use baking soda.
Using salt causes sodium deposits to form rather quickly on the electrodes, rendering them useless.

Whether it's salt or baking soda is irrelevant. The hydrogen comes from the electrolysis of water:
2H2O ---> 2H2 + O2
The salt or baking soda is just an electrolyte to allow the water to conduct electricity. In high school chem class they probably used sulfuric acid as the electrolyte. The generator described would produce a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen (not just hydrogen). However, the amount from such a small device would make little difference energy-wise for an automobile engine. In other words, this is essentially hokum.

But in the end you are absoutly correct that is it all a huge scam. I have always seen it directed at SUV owners, first time I ever heard anyone ask about it related to a sports car.

like you mentioned it takes forever to fill a little balloon, now imagine how little effect it has on the engine....
also, what is the cost for this gizmo..... could buy other cool mods instead

There are many guides to make your own out of a plastic/glass jar (cost about 10 dollars). There is a crazy number of kits ranging from 15 dollars on ebay up to 15,000 dollars. Just depends on how stupid a person is. Some larger ones actually use battary banks, transformers, large 10 gallon drums ect.
