Question WTF is this crap all over my engine?

Popped the hood today to install some HID fogs and saw this! Looks almost like dried up coolant, but there is no coolant smell or temp issue. It's crusty and feels kinda like winter road salt. I haven't washed the car in a week and it wasn't there on Saturday when I looked under there. I saw this before when I first bought the car home from the dealer, but it was no where near this much. WTF???

I get that same **** as well! I hate it. I thought it was just from rain but I popped my hood on a dry day after it was cleaned and there it was again.

A) I would never take this car through a car wash. 2) If water is coming through your hood like that, probably a bad thing and you need to have your hood height adjusted. and D) It does look like hard water spots, but as someone else said, they had it when there was no rain. My guess would have been coolant as well, and just because there are no heat issues (YET) doesnt mean some coolant is leaking and there is still some there. I would check your levels and if nothing else take it to the dealership and have them look at it
