Two failed hard launches later - smelly clutch
I took delivery of a 08 6MT 2 weeks ago and wanted to test out the car. I revved it to 5k and dumped the clutch but something weird happened. The VDC light comes on and I am going about 1-2MPH while the RPM is still revving at 6-7 and a horrendous smell (clutch) comes out a few seconds later while I'm shifting to second. The car STILL does not go anywhere while it's in second (clutch not engaged) and the engine is revving at 4K RPM. The wheels, by the way, are not spinning like it should.
I know I burned my clutch in this scenario but how the hell am I supposed to do a hard launch when I can't even dump it at 5K? I've tried this one more time since then and the same thing happened.
Please advise!
PS I have drive MT before and I've never had this happen.

It's a used 08 with 22K miles. I guess I must be used to dumping at high RPM because of my last car - Integra GSR. Will try the more "normal" RPM of 3-4
The two times I launched it were completely different. Once with VDC off and once with VDC on.

As for dumping the clutch, my tires light up with anything over 4000. Like Vinnys Coupe said, feather it out a bit until it starts to grab, then dump it. And when you shift from 1st to 2nd, don't just dump it because it's possible to spin more than a little chirp. Feather it into a 2nd a tiny bit and you'll get a better grab.

yea dude its the RPM's. whenever i did that before the car would just sit there and the clutch would hold in lol. im only at 20,300mi right now and if i do about 3500 or less rpms its just fine even before the turbo.
