Mobil 1 0W-30 instead of 5W-30?

So I was about to buy 5w-30 mobil 1 like I usually do but noticed 0w-30 which says it exceeds 5w-30. What do you guys think?

Typically, a 5W base stock will have better hot viscosity than a 0W base stock. Sounds like marketing to me, unless that particular oil has extensively more additives, and costs more as a result.

Have you considered a Group IV/V oil instead?

Yeah Motul's ester based synthetics look good on paper as far as going well with our VVEL motors since our motors work best with ester based oil. I am waiting to get to 15k to go with Motul synthetic. I will probably stick with 5w30 however.

Why stop there? Go with 0w-40. (GT-R approved!)

Because the engine tolerances are designed for a 30 weight at operating temperature, not 40 weight.

The super premium brands like Eunos, Motul, and Amsoil are going to be difficult to find locally unless you have shops that specialize in aftermarket and/or high end parts.

You might want to look up local shops that build race cars. Even if they do only domestics, or even motorcycles, they should be able to source the oils for you.
