Problem starting in 1st gear?
The other day, I noticed that trying to get into 1st gear has become more difficult to do smoothly. When I hold the clutch at the engagement point and press on the accelerator, my car jolts a bit (as if I rev'd the engine too much before releasing) instead of starting off smoothly like I usually do. I almost want to say it feels like clutch wear, but I haven't been abusing my clutch. I do heel and toe a lot which I understand would promote faster clutch wear, but I would think it'd last MUCH longer than 16K miles. I can row through the other gears just fine, it's just 1st that's been giving me a bit of trouble. Sorry for the crappy description, I don't know exactly how I'd describe this...
Does anyone think their clutch feels different after ~15K miles? Mine felt pretty consistent until now.
Anyway, if this even sounds remotely close to something you're experiencing or heard of, please chime in! Thanks...

i'm at 17k and my clutch is soft as a honda civic. i hate this clutch with a passion. it's so bad i can't even feel where the engagement point is at.
i get what you saying though. i have the same problem.

Im at ~14 months and 13k+ miles.
I notice I have difficulty starting off from first when my gas level is low (like 1/4). Much easier when it's half full or more.
Yeah, my dad says that for a $40K+ car, the engine and transmission makes too much noise. I used to drive a '03 Civic coupe, it had a much smoother and quieter manual transmission.

Transmission is loud no doubt about it, keep reminding myself this is "normal" for our cars. Most of the time I don't get as smooth of a start as I would like, very frustrating, especially when you want that quick start. Our cars are able to get a smooth very quick (IMO) start, you just have to find that very precise point of engagement, and that's the hard part. I've had starts that actually pull me back in my seat (not trying to do so) and I'm "how the hell did I do that?" I've only done it a handful of times which sucks, but I also blame my "skills" at shifting. The clutch/transmissions seems like a child, some days it behaves and other days it's just an F***ING pain!!!

Hahah d@mn you Dave and your outlandish videos and odd screen names like Gamedog which remind me of...
Anyway, I guess I'm not the only one who's experiencing this. Just felt weird after over a year of using the same driving technique the car all of a sudden responds differently. I guess this is the reason why people say Nissan/Infiniti MT's are harder to drive.

Sounds like your clutch is sticker (post break-in).
The clutch progressively gets stickier, hits a peak, and then starts to decline in stickiness. The peak on most clutches is around 30-40% worn.

Was your idle rev normal? I've had that happen before when I idled at around 1k. But it went away after a restart.

Afterthought.
Heat soak? It is summer, and your car IS black....
This happens all the time in s2k, as I run with an exposed filter. If I hold the RPM at 1500 at a light, and then take off like normal, then the problem doesnt happen, as there's enough airflow to prevent heat soak...

I think i know what you are talking about. Mine happens when i let out the clutch and i just begins to grab and at the same time I begin feeding it just a bit of gas to get the car moving and I get what feels like the clutch is bouncing off the the pressure plate. Like a judder almost. Its almost impossile to just scoot away from a dead stop like this.
