But GM never used it that way, and at least one forum member had blown his engine on a tune, tuned it back to stock, and then took it to the dealer with no problems. That's why I want a handheld tuner, so I have the ability to tune back at will.

But that being said, I have no idea what Nissan's capabilities are in terms of detecting previous flashes. Does anyone else? Any Nissan / Infiniti techs on here?
They can detect the flash, but for the most part, the performance gains from a flash itself are relatively minimal, and the chances of a flash alone causing engine failure are nil.

E.g. LastChance had his engine warrantied; shavings were found in his oil pan. Obviously, the reflash had nothing to do with it, and thus, he got a new engine.

For the most part, as long as you are reasonable, and have a reasonable dealership readily accessible, you shouldn't run into warranty issues.

Torque is a direct function of displacement; you will get roughly 75 +-5 ft/lbs of torque for every 1 liter of displacement, regardless of horsepower output. (does not apply when boost is in the equation)

So I get it - turbo kit for real power + goodbye warranty or be happy with a tune, full exhaust and possibly a cai for, what, 20 - 30 whp tops? 15-20 lbs torque? I'm coming from a G8 GT with a just a tune, and that had me close to 400 lbs of torque. I just need to accept my current reality I suppose, or buy those turbos, I guess
My point exactly. If the bolt-ons on a G really gave the car 35 hp, then it would match the 335's hp, but it does not.

On the other hand, if you did a LSx swap into a G, you'd have one very unique car. The swap has been done on a 350z before, so I would imagine you wouldn't have to pioneer everything.

They have the ability to see if the ECU has been altered but generally only do that in extreme cases (you are suing them because of a major accident and blaming it on a defect in the car type of scenario). Even so, there are ways to "erase your tracks", or at least there are on every other manufacturer's system that I know of. I'm not 100% sure about Nissan, but most all other manufacturers wipe info that's hard written in the ECU in the same very simple manner.

No, I won't tell yo how to do it. Mike might know.

Wow... I don't think he swapped the rear end... I think I saw him spinning one tire

But that is a pretty sick swap.... imagine the poor guy that pulls up next to him at a light...

Little off topic but I use to love the torque in my 1987 WE4 Turbo Regal. Stock engine was underrated at 355 lb/ft @ 2,000 rpm

Nice strips here with posi. As long as you went straight you were good

Gotta love those turbo regals. Here's link to a sick LS2 350z - check out the engine bay! But the point is, is that apparently people LSx-swap engines into Nissans all the time....
