Has this noise been identified?
Not my youtube post BUT I have this noise everytime I drive the car and I dont drive hard at all. Has it been identified? All my oil changes have been done at Infiniti. At first I thought it might be the TSB: Noise From Bank 2 Vvel Actuator but I'm not entirely sure. The sound is at idle after driving the car.
Any thoughts?

The noise is from the vvel system on b2 I believe. You should take it to the dealership and have them update the ecm.
also they should change your oil and add ester oil in your engine.

whoa that sounds loud. I had the ticking noise.. had the reflash and ester oil.. hasn't come back! It would be embarrassing stopping at a light with a new nice car and it would tick like that. i couldnt stand it!

Wow, that's quite an obnoxious sound. My G37 has about 2500 miles on it now and I haven't heard that yet (knock on wood).
Thanks for posting the link, DrJones--I knew about the TSB but hadn't yet heard the noise. Now I know what to listen for.

Tom... I probably should check the oil and see. Give me an idea of how long I should wait before checking. I just parked it about 10 minutes ago.... Also I originally posted the ticky ticky sound when you disengage the clutch... so she is definitely going in for an operation

That sound is the VVEL noise as per the TSB, no doubt at all.
I don't know why some people call that a "ticking" noise, more like a "chucka chucka chucka" noise.
The TSB reprogramming together with ester oil stopped it. My last oil change I switched to Mobil 1 and no noise so far.

So the question is....what is fixing the problem..the oil? or the ecm reprogram?
Also, does anyone have a loud vvl noise when the car starts up cold? I do...at it gradually goes away over 15 seconds or so. Whats interesting is that if I tap the gas just a bit and rev it up say 500 rpm (to maybe 1800rpm) the noise goes away..even cold...but as the idle settles right back down..it comes back.
Again..this noise is gone in 15 seconds or so and only happens on cold starts.
