Did you know our factory Air Filter is Oiled?
I was checking out the air filters this weekend on my 3 wk old G and noticed the OEM filters are oiled. I'm wondering who makes them - I've seen other Japanese OEM filters like these. They're orange (not K&N), but look similar to Purolator PureOne filters which are blue but also oiled. I'm not a fan of oiled filters but these are not reusable and are typically only a buck or two more expensive than a plain paper filter.
Does anyone have any info on these?

I was wondering who makes them for Infiniti/Nissan. As I mentioned the only other oiled/disposable filter I've seen so far is the PureOne. The filter media looks almost the same but the PO is blue vs. the OEM orange. I had a Subaru that had similar OEM orange oiled filters and the buzz was they were made by Purolator. Since it was also made in Japan, I'm wondering if there's a connection.

Does oiled vs non-oiled make a difference? Does it hurt anything if you don't put an oiled one in? What exactly does the oiling of the air filter do for it?
