I got 6MT and it does it too just like you said. I have no issues and service said no issues so hey its all good as long as under warranty. Remember Tranny is I think 60,000 6 year warranty... Correct if wrong...

Back from the dead! My car (2008 g37s 6mt) just started doing this too. To clarify, I have a bone stock g37s. The sound happens specifically when shifting above 3000rpm and can be heard loudly from 1st to 2nd gear. The sound starts happening as soon as you touch the gear changer and start moving it while the clutch is in and the engine is falling in rpms (say 5000rpm back to 4000rpm).

It sounds like something in the transmission.

Any ideas?

make sure its not your throw out bearing. i had my whole tranny already replaced for issues. and now im bringing back the new tranny for this type of noise. car was bought brand new, and now only has 24k
THE NOISE HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE THE CLUTCH PUSHED IN. SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS SPOOLING UP INSIDE.

Mine doesn't do that, it's only when I grab the shift when I'm driving and about to shift into 2nd from 1st at high rpm. I wonder if my shift linkage got misaligned somehow...

It's the synchros if it is when you are down shifting into 2nd and 1st. You can also hear it if you reach a higher rpm in first and press and hold the clutch.

Mine only makes the noise as I grab the shifter to pull it backwards. If I rev to high rpm and push in the clutch and let the car coast it doesn't make the noise. The noise sounds like a recirculation valve on a factor turboed car. (I get the noise of a turboed car without the benefits )
