Low end torque loss with HFC

Hey guys ... so i finally got too it and put on the UR pulley and the FI HFC tht have been sitting in my room for months.

I gotta say ,, the HFC really made my exhaust come over my intake ... i love the sound ... but

when i had my intake and exhaust alone i would slip on 1gear ... now my car just pulls !

switching into second really gives a nice pull .. which is something that i didnt have before ... but i can tell i lost some low end torque cuz the launch on 1st gear doesnt seem the same...

anyone experience this also ?

Its pretty complicated why this happens, but in short it has to do with the scavenging effect. You flow more volume of air with the hfc, but you lose fluid momentum. This loss in fluid (exhaust gas) momentum is what causes torque loss. The hfc will make bigger numbers on the top end, where its designed to increase volumetric flow and high rpm scavenging and thereby increasing torque and power.

hehe same here with my 6MT Sedan! But strange thing happend, When I took my car to the dealer to Install my HFC's, I took out my Injens so they would not scratch them up, and put the Stocks on for that day. But after I picked up my car, and I floored it in 1st rolling at like 10mph, man the car broke loose like never before, all the way through 3rd. spinning on every upshift! Then installed my Injens back the next day, took another drive, and no more mad wheelspin in 1st from a roll. it just went, but still broke loose on every upshift up to 3rd gear!

But just seems to me with Aftermarket Intakes and HFC's, I feel more power up top, but with the OEM Intakes, think there's a little more grunt down low, and it kinda flattens out up top. So that my story with my Exhaust mods! Enjoy your HFC's!

Yep.. thats what intakes, hfc's, headers, etc do. Stock components are designed to make power from approx 2k-4k rpm. Most ppl drive in that range so thats where the intake length is set to take full advantage of the acoustic tuning effect (reflective waves). I love the flat torque curve of the engine in stock form, very drivable car.

With Intake, HFC & full HKS exhaust.... what can be done to Increase the Low End Torque??? I've also done a Blitz Throttle Controller & Cobb Tuning to stage 2+. I want More Take Off speed! Any suggestions?? 5at.

You're running stage 2+ map without headers? You must been running rich as hell just wasting fuel. Get a custom tune and you'll be able to save some of that torque and make even more top end power.
