Engine Swap (LS7?)

I know this probably sounds absurd. And trust me, I love my VQ37. But I had a friend who was going to swap an LS7 into his 350Z, but he ended up wrecking his steering somehow and had to put all his time and money into that. I think Performance Factory in Orlando was actually going to sponsor him for it, because I know there are a few LS2 Z's running around, but I don't think anyone has done an LS7 swap that I know of. But as far as I can tell Performance Factory is closed. Their number is disconnected and their website is gone. Anywho, would this even be possible in a G37? I know I could always go the route of TT. And I've already talked to Sharif at Forged and he recommended going the TT route because obviously engine swaps are incredible labor intensive and are never guaranteed to go well. I'd love to go TT, but I wouldn't be the first and I wouldn't be the last to do so. Not to mention I can't afford to TT right now so I'm hoping to find somebody willing to sponsor me on the swap just because I'm crazy like that. I can say with a good deal of confidence that I probably be the first to engine swap a G37. Anywho, figured I'd ask the experts on here for some opinions. I also wouldn't mind doing an LS2 swap, of course my friend with the LS7 will beat me if he gets his done but that's alright. I'm mainly wondering if this is all feasible underhood space size and all. Maybe I'll find somebody to do an LSX swap and crank it up to 2400hp. Pretty sure I'd be the first G to hit that kind of number

SirFer has high hopes. Lol.

I'm not sure if an LS7 would fit under our hood and between our wheel wells, unless you hack the car up pretty badly. Those motors are humongous compared to our little V6's. But anything is possible nowadays Just gotta have the $ and the time.

My buddy has a widebody z LS2 swap. 12.5" in the rear, still cant get traction if he is perfect. Not worth it.

with enough $, ANYTHING is possible. the question you have to ask is it feasible? since it hasnt been done, that makes it harder. unless you have a shop who really wants to help you do this, i wouldnt bother at all.

jeremy closed performance factory and now works with aam in maryland. you can try him there if you want.

you could go the Top Secret route (4.5L VK45 V-8 Infiniti Q45). If you have the money to spend I would stick with an import motor. 800+hp

I have the DVD of this motor. It sounds like thunder.

Hinson specializes in LS swaps. They do full turn key builds including custom engine mounts, engine, transmission, custom drive shaft, headers, exhaust, custom ecu piggybacking, tuning, all the labor ect. They do warranty all their work as well for 2 years I believe. Nothing like having 500 whp NA.

Together everything comes out to about 20k with all the labor, tuning ect. Plus you can sell your vq37 and make some back.

It would actually be cheaper to do a LS swap than it would build a VQ37 and TT kit. Plus the new vq37 engine is new ground and little is known about it. The LS platform is tried and true. You can run it for years no problem.

20k on top of 40k = GT-R price range.

No matter what. Warranties will be voided. I could do some serious damage dumping 20k into a track star. I would invest in a used 35/350 and dump it into that. Parts are available and top notch shops have been working on 35/350s for over 5 years now.

I think that an LS7 in the G would be overkill. You would seriously need to tub out the space to get it to fit. Also, you would definitely need to put some hoosiers slicks on just to keep it on the road. Forget the LS2, and get the LS3. 415hp and later you can supercharge it and be up there with the Corvette ZR1. You will prob need to spend the rest of your money on better suspension, new rear end, and new tires every 10k miles.

There is a guy on my350z selling a LS2 swapped 350z for 23k.

Also built engine plus TT kit will still be more than 20k.

And how do you figure 60k is GT-R price range?

The Nissan GT-R US price starts at $69,850 for the base version and goes up to $ 71,900 for the Premium version.

As mentioned LS7 is not really good idea unless you have money to throw away.
For a LS7 crate engine, expect to pay around 12k. For a LS3, you can pick one up for 4k.
They would fit fine, that isnt an issue.

LS3 with a little head work and fogger kit, you can have 600 whp no problem. Very reliable as well.

I would be surprised to see one at that price. Plus there is alot more to consider, such as insurance. Plus regular maintenance on a GT-R is thousands, but only couple hundred on a G37 with LS swap.

I'm pretty sure you will have less blown gaskets, push rods, etc. With a GT-R.

Just found one in Dallas.
$73,992 2,816 mi.
2009 Nissan GT-R

It all depends on just how far you want to go.

I love the LS motor! I'm a GM guy! PERIOD! Could just get a new Camaro.
2010 Camaro SS 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3. Just imagine what you could do with a block like that. A car of this caliber will pull on you for days. You FI that motor and your are talking 600+hp. That's some serious #s.
