unknown noise from idle engine when the car just gets off from high way
I noticed the noise when just getting off from highway and waiting for traffic light to turn green. It turns out that whenever the engine gets idle after a period of highway driving, a lound noise with a constant pace "Kacha,Kacha, kacha, ... would start emitting out. The noise is much louder than it when the car doing normal street driving. It is like a guy breathing heavily after just doing some heavy exercise.
Did anyone hear the same noise after you just got off from highway driving? is it normal?
Thanks,
Did anyone hear the same noise after you just got off from highway driving? is it normal?

I alway have my oil change done by the dealer. it is about 10K mile. I was told not to use synthetic oil for the first 10K. Therefore, I have not thought of upgrading the engine oil. I am not sure what type of engine oil the dealer has been using for my car. I assume it is a regular oil.
Budakai, I think you are right. The noise does get away after resting the engine for a while. In my case, the noise appears very easily. it didn't really need a "hard run". And it takes much longer to disappear. Low grade fuel? do you mean the gasoline? Recently, I always fill up my gas from a same Exxon gas station. It is always 93 premium. I guess I need to go to a different gas station from now on and see whether the problem will disappear.
Welcome for any advice. going to bring my car in this Friday.
Thanks.

also see this updated thread: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...-fast-idle.htm
If your manufacture date (drivers door plate) is 2007 or early 2008, I bet a reflash of the ECU may take care of the sound you describe, which I heard as a knocking knoise last week. I just had my ECU update today for the fast idle, surge on braking issue, TSB ITB07-048a, I believe (since I did not see the final paperwork). ECU software part number went from 23710-jk70c to 86a...16 changes since manufacture?
The click click noise may be more directly related to the VVEL TSB, ITB07-023? But it requires a ECU update as well.
Posting your manufacturing date (or Vin) as part of your signature, or thread, may help nail down some of these problems, I think.
