I inquired about this with 2 service managers at different dealerships and was told that the ester oil issue was for 08-09 by both of them. In fact one dealership would have to overnight order the nissan brew if someone wanted it, they get a pennzoil synthetic blend in 55g drums for all service work.

What's the latest from Nissan regarding ester oil. Do they still have TSB recommending it? This is for an 08 coupe BTW.

I prepaid for maintenance, so I really don't care about price. I just want to make sure that the car gets what it's supposed to get, next time I drop it off for service.

Check the paperwork. It probably doesn't specify the kind of oil, which means dealer bulk oil. You would pay the differential.

My question was not about my maintenance plan, I know it covers the ester oil as it was put in the car at previous services.

My question is whether Nissan still recommends the use of ester oil for the G37, or if there is an updated TSB.

That is good for you. Usually there is an out clause or people assume that the ester oil is used for them.

For your model, I believe that the ester oil req. Is still in force.

For those of you guys who use the Nissan 5w30 Ester Oil, where do you get it? I've found a few places online that sell it;

First @ 13.75/qt
Second @ 10.95/qt
Third @ 10.43/qt

Just wanted to see if any of you have recommendations. I'm due for my first change in 250 miles and plan on doing it myself. Thanks in advance for the help!

If you have a later model, use a top of the line synthetic like M1, PP, PU, etc.

No such thing as a stupid question. Great oils for the car are Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic, 0w30 AFE, pennzoil platinum, pennzoil ultra, etc. These will all be more than you need if you follow the reccommended oil change.

Walmart is a great place to pick up a cheap jug of great oil, if you aren't anti establishment.
