I have ran my car like crazy on the Dragon and never over heated... I dont think there is that many Limp mode members really to even call it a problem...

As mentioned before I am wonder if this is more common on cars built later in the model year as it appears that this is relatively recently reported issue.

I have not heard a word about overheating on the G37s. This is the first I've heard of it.

I've seen it on the track. Both on an auto with the decreased RPMs and lowered shift points and on a 6MT (Torry, you here?) where he had it to the point that he couldn't even put his clutch in because he must've friend his hydraulics... he also fried his brakepads and took it to the dealer and they replaced the pads under warranty! But yeah, it happens and I've seen it with my own two eyes - at the track

Odd... I've seen it happen in the summer out here at Pocono with ambient temps in the 80s-90s as well as in Vegas with temps in the high 50s / low 60s. The friend driving (don't know if he's on this forum... ezcheese15 or something like that) in Vegas drives his car HARD though. He had driven the previous weekend at VIR and then drove cross-country to an event in Vegas. I think those who aren't experiencing this and are tracking their G's just aren't pushing their cars hard enough Seriously though, the only times I saw it happen were with advanced level drivers so they really were pushing the cars HARD

I run a lot with Da_Hashi.

He works for a race team, so you get the idea

I don't think he's run into any problems; he's running bolt ons + Cobb

Cobb I assume you mean some sort of ECU flash/tune? Do you know if they've done anything to defeat the oil temp? I don't see why you'd really want to anyway though?

Is he running in hot temps and long sessions (30+ minutes)? At Pocono it happened at the very end of a 30 minute session. In Vegas it happened after 2-3 20 minute sessions followed by about 45 minutes of open track.

Odd how it's randomly affecting people. I'll have to start asking that question anytime I see a G at the track

We recently did a ~300 mile drive that basically broke down to this:

30 miles freeway, 30 miles canyon, 20 miles freeway, 180 miles canyon/backroads, 50 miles freeway.

The entire drive was about 5 hours long. Canyon sections were pretty much WOT + full brake + back to WOT the entire time except when stuck behind an occasional vehicle (until they pull over or we pass).

Two particular sections of interest would be the full length of Palomar, and running by Hellhole Canyon...

There were also sections where I was catching air

I averaged about 11MPG for the trip, including the highway section. Da_Hashi had about 15MPG.

As has been said before, it's much different than driving on a track. You can't duplicate track driving on the street no matter how hard you try. Trust me, I've (stupidly) tried. Even in similar ambient temps and what you would think are similar road/curve/brake conditions you just can't do it.

I ll have to agree with that statement. Never drove my car at the track but the bike has been several times. Track environment is set up to have you on the go constantly and to test the machine and rider/driver. On the road you'll slow down for traffic, boring sections and most everyone with a little sense does not push to the limit because there is too many variables. The track is controlled and allows you to go ***** to the wall and test what your or the machine limits are.

^^^ + 1

I've done one HPDE and one autocross so far in the G37S with no problem (I've done quite a few HPDE events before). The HPDE was in Oct and temps were mid 70's . Second day had mostly open track, ran full hard sessions and never hit limp mode entire weekend.

I'm running synthetic (Mobil-1 if that matters) and is a late build date (June).

Forgot to mention... the one car that I've driven and noticed this was with Mobil 1. Don't know about build date but I'll have to find out.
