FD mod for the 08 G37 autos

One thing I noticed was that no one ever mentions swapping the final drive for their 5AT. It was a popular mod for the 350Z and G35s....I dunno, just throwing it out there since I hardly ever see it mentioned here. The guys who have done the mod have seen great acceleration performance plus they still achieve the top speed limiter of 155mph. Only issues was gas mileage. I believe the 3.3FD were swapped out with the 3.5FD..or something like that. Been a while since I logged into my350z.com.

Just something new to post. I think I just had my fill of intake and exhaust threads.

This is a thread for the 3.9FD on the 5At auto...

http://my350z.com/forum/engine-drive...pressions.html

I know the 08' 5AT is the same as the 5AT of the previous gen. but not sure if the FD is the same. surely it can't be 3.9...lol.

That's if everything was bought new....guys in so cal can get one installed for $1000.

For a $1000 people can get an exhaust that makes noise and does little without a tune...or shave a few tenths off your 1/4 with shorter gearing.

I'm officially subscribed to this thread.

My first FD swap was in a 1998 VR6 which I also added a superchager and the original FD a few months later. To be honest, the FD swap was a far better investment. It gave the acceleration of a sub 6 psi boosted car but with the trouble free operation of the stock, N/A motor.

I've been thinking this would be a killer mod for the G37 but I'd like to see if there's any issues first.

I think the only side effects on the previous geb 350zs and G35s was that some lost the ability for cruise control...i don't know if this was rectified...but if you're all about performace then it seems CC is not a big factor.

coupled with our lsd this mod is sure to rip us out faster from a dig

If I remember right, it's something to do with throwing a MIL code in the ECU. The ECU monitors wheel speed and I believe this mod alters the information to a point that causes error codes and some loss of function. Apparently it's not with all FD's though. On the 350Z's doing this mod, they were going from 3.3's to 3.5 and up with supposedly the 3.5 and 3.7's still with CC. We have 3.6 correct? So perhaps a 3.9 would still retain the CC for our cars. Who wants to be first!
