Me too! But mostly, I kick myself for not getting the S. I went with the xS instead. I really wish I had the faster steering and sport suspension.

Wait... man I need to learn about my own car lol. You mean we can leave DS mode on and just drive it in that mode? I thought it was just for a quick take off?

...But I can imagine that X comes in handy in winter weather...the first year I had my car I got stuck...and the weather hadn't really gotten bad yet...but admittedly, tht was before I upgraded my tires from the stocks

Yep you sure can. Gives you a sportier feel no matter what you're doing, but mostly only noticeable when driving hard.

I personally only use it when I'm racing/showing off. When just driving normally it annoys me by not always upshifting when I want it to... Love the way it downshifts though!

The xS Coupe does. They only left those things out on the xS sedan for some reason.

So in DS Mode the car is supposed to upshift and downshift on it's own? It does downshift itself into 1st in DS Mode when slowing down to a stop.

I've read through this entire thread twice and that is what I am seeing.....my car is a 2010 X coupe, and in DS mode I have to shift. I've taken it up to and a little beyond redline and it does not shift on it's own. Now it may be me being paranoid and backing off to soon, but I've tried a few times now and it always acts the same way.

Everything seems to be working fine, the rev match for downshifts is way cool, but it takes me downshifting, the car does not do it on it's own in DS Mode. I don't really have a problem shifting myself in DS Mode, it's how I thought it was supposed to work, but if it isn't working correctly I want to have it looked at....

I practically only drive using the paddles. I'm kind of against the way the car shifts on its own. Having said that, DS mode will actually shift at the most precise, calculated moment. Paddles are still more fun though!

Ok thanks, i'll do more searching before i post in the future.. i know not doing so, can become annoying.. (and.. i can't get into DS mode at all now, guessing it's time for a service visit). Thanks for answering though.

Wow im really suprised by the responses on this thread. I will go far as saying without going into sport
Mode and using the paddles you are not even coming close to using the cars potential. I use my G as
A dd but on Thursdays and Fridays the Traffic is usually so bad I take the backroads home. Its a 10-15 mile barely 2 lane canyon rd with a lot of great twisties and even a corkscrew most corners are posted at
10mph. I have tried all different trans modes and for true road race Sport mode using the paddles is by far the best. Its the only way to enter and exit the corners at the correct RPMs. In sport mode without paddles
I found the car to be inconsitant when entering corners. Example your coming out of a corner after the apex and start accelerating and maybe up to 5k rpm or so and here comes the next corner where maybe you need to be in 2nd gear. Well when your not using the paddles the car may jump up to 4th gear automatically because it really doesnt know or have any way to know whats next. Now I will say this for twistie roads the sport mode is much better than standard..but for any aggresive cornering you should be in sport mode with paddles engaged.

My 2 cents..

Good thread. I'm going to try using the paddles in DS mode. Never tried that. I use the "m" mode with the paddles but dislike it when the car downshifts before I want it to.

^^If you use paddles in DS mode, it'll just put it into M mode....

Yes i know. Its the only way to have full control of gear and rpm.

Its more fun that way.

I use all 5 shifting modes (D, DS, manual w/stick, manual w/paddles, in D shift with paddles) quite often. I actually think DS shifts more smoothly than D. My feeling is that this is because the torque converted locks up so early (a good thing) and this introduces more driveline-lash than an automatic normally experiences. In DS, the transmission downshifts more under braking. I also think when I am in D and I use the paddles to downshift, the shifts are smoother, more like a well executed heel-and-toe.

I use it whenever I feel like getting 12 miles to the gallon...
