I don't agree with that.
Neither my 2002 M3 nor my 2007 335i ever lost more than a 1/4 quart in 500 mile track weekend.
I also have a '07 Yamaha R6 that gets hell on the track and it stays between 14k-19k RPM most of the time and not even a drop is lost.

Blow by is exhibited on sustained high-g turns. It is unlikely that you'd burn a large amount of oil unless you're sustaining over 1G in turns.

Were you running r-comps or (massively) oversized tires? Does your local track have any banked turns? Are there a series of high speed chicanes? If none of those conditions are true, you're not going to have much blow by. Keep in mind these conditions are also ideal for oil starvation, and I've seen many many cars fall victim...

Blow by, for the most part, does not affect bikes.

On r-comps, almost every car I've owned has lost over a quart of oil per track day to blow by. Then again, none of the cars I've owned are really designed as a track car. None of the cars I've owned burned oil when street driven.

^ It makes sense. I've never thought of it (Maybe BMW do not blow-by that much on track). But still if in normal street operation I think loosing more than a quart is too much.

Most of the serious track BMWs I've seen run pretty large catch cans...

But I do agree, the G shouldn't be burning ANY oil for street use.

Maybe other readers also wonder about "blow by"? Isn't it head pressure that blows by the piston rings? If so, is it related to oil loss?
