6 MT Owners - Pop-Clutch RPM?

Hey Guys,

What is the highest RPM you can pop the STOCK clutch at to burn the tires?

I mean like burn all first gear.. you know rip second, chirp third - all out!

From what I see so far this isnt possible with this cluth?

Tried this at 3,000 RPM and it burned the clutch and not the tires.

No way in hell you are poping that clutch at 7,500 - LOL!

Maybe rolling... but not at a dead launch.

And if so then its not BBQ its clutch pad.

Are you talking about droping it down a gear...? Thats not my post if so LOL~!

chirping second just depends on how quick you can transition. And there is no set RPM to burn out in, If i punch it and get a good launch I can get the rears on my automatic to spin. Do you enjoy having tires lasting 2000 miles?

Same here with the auto. I think it just depends on the conditions. With the now cooler weather i've found myself chirping second a couple times with MS mode and VDC off.

Thanks Guys!

But I was asking this question for 6MT users (Manual only)

And I mean lite up the tires as in at Dead Launch Gun it and burn the tires all the way through 1st gear to 7,500 RPM.

I've noticed that the sotck clutch for Manual is limtted to a launch of about 2,000rpm whic only spins the tires for about 15 feet.

My 78 Trans Am with 400 engine with about 280 horsepower will burn for at least 200 feet. And thats an automatic.

This cars torque curve beggins at about 3,700 up it seems

I undersatnd saving tires. I just want to lite em up once in a straigt away - you know like you did when you where a kid at a party and everyone said "Hey lite em up!"

PS: Of course VDC is off! - VDC is for non-real drivers - end of story. I can fish tale this car to hell and never lose it - very predictable, especially with the stick shift

We'll see how much longer you have the car if that's your driving style.

To do a fatty burnout you don't just rev to 7500, 5k or 3k and dump the clutch.

You have to know the balance between clutch and RPMs not just completely dumping 100%.

I like to rev to about 3k, let the clutch begin to engage a little bit get the car moving, then let off the clutch hard/completely gas it.

You cant drive for S*** Obviously!

Your probably are one of the 70% of pepole who buy a sports car and drive it like a grandma. So tired of pepole like that! "MOVE OVER!"

I've driven a 411 full pauseyTransAm for years - enough said!

VDC is a disapointment for me in General. Its good I agree for rainy days.

But for dry traction its an accident for me wating to happen!

Trying to get across an interscetion thats busy when this thing goes limp mode and man your in a f****** Accident!

Sorry butt this car is a dream to drive and I can handle it fine and no I don't drive like this all the time. - been over 6 years since I got any ticket (safe driver over here son)
