Automatic

I'm having a hard time liking my automatic.

How it downshifts and upshifts. Cruising is fine, when I want to work it, not.

I should have gotten manual.

Anyone else feels the same?

what do you mean by "how it downshifts and upshifts"?

not me. unless you're talking about just D (Drive) mode. it's meant for cruising.

DS i find is nearly telepathic, downshifting and upshifting when i want it too. unless you "cruise" in DS. Cruising in DS is bad, because the ECU will think you drive like a tool even in DS mode... it will start to not rev up as much, and it will wait a second or so longer to downshift when decelerating. an ECU reset will fix that.

manual mode is perfect, obviously.

Are you sure this isn't Yoda from Star Wars?

Sorry, just kidding. I'm plenty happy with my 5 AT, although I'm jealous of the new 7 AT.

no regrets here. sounds like you should have done a little more thinking before buying your 5AT.

I find mine is great. I commute in heavy traffic so the 6mt is a problem (had one on my last 328i and it was getting very annoying). The only thing I don't like is a slight surge when upshifting in manual mode... downshifting is great. Black Betty's grounding kit made a difference too...

But if you are unhappy, trade in on a 6mt... it will only cost about $5 to $8 in depreciation That's one expensive 6mt.

As a long time manual owner I could not be happier with my 5 AT. It is not perfect like the Audi, BMW or EVO X- the upshifts are slow but the downshifts are nicely matched. Maybe you just like rowing the gears and I can see that. If you really can't get over it get a MT- life is too short. Good luck!
