after 1200 miles then what??
Calling all engineers.
So following the break in by the book and no rpms greater than 4k for first 1200 miles. So what happens at 1201- I can redline at every take off?
Just guessing that there must be some period (let's say to 5,000 miles) where you still have to be careful about driving at high rpms or am I full of crap??
Any engineers or engine experts want to advise?? Thanks.

technically there is nothing to break in.. rings seat and bearings adjust within the first 15min of the cars life, driving 50 miles with some stop and go, downshifting will put load on the motor where the ring process completes. on its first warm up and cool down process everything is done! the single most important thing that matters of engine life.. is the correct Air fuel ratio.
but... an organic clutch needs 500 miles to properly seat with the flywheel and pressure plate. otherwise glazing can occur and the clutch will have a very short life and start slipping.
but on the motors i build with puck clutches that do not need any breakin period, the motor goes in and right on the dyno for tuning. where 10+ full throttle dyno runs are done. if anything breaks it will break as soon as your beating on it.
dealers recommend the 1200 because of insurance/warranty reasons.

PC: I am astounded at the restraint that you have shown while teaching your motor and drivetrain how to properly align themselves with the non-mechanical parts of your Infiniti G37s. It is common knowledge of those who have an obvious greater degree of automobile break-in policy to advance the rpms into the so-called red range at a much earlier stage than apparently you have been able to do. At this juncture in your personal schooling of that fine peice of machinery I must ask you to please put your size 10-1/2 squarely over the gas pedal and push it down as if you were stepping on an ant. Please do not leave any space between the pedal and the firewall and leave it there for as long as you are able. The emotional response should overwhelm you and if not we are here to assist you to finally reach that relationship that you have longed for with your car. Please enjoy
