Hard Shift Into 1st or 2nd Gear

First off, I just want to say hello and thanks for all the information I've been able to find here at the forums. I purchased my black G37S a little less than two months ago. This is my first manual car, although I am quite familiar with shifting from riding ATVs.

When I shift into second gear (from 1st to 2nd or downshifting from a higher gear) it takes some force to move the shifter into 2nd gear (more so when shifting with higher RPMs). This is with the clutch fully engaged. I also have this issue when shifting into 1st gear. However, when shifting into 3rd or higher, it's very smooth even in high RPMs.

Does anyone else have this, or is this perfectly normal?

...I searched the forums for information on this and didn't find anything, so I hope this isn't a re-post.

it depends on your speed and stuff, generally you should never try to put your car into first if your going 10+ MPH.. second can sometimes be a little stiffer than third but normally feels fine for me.. temperatures and stuff can affect this a little as well.

I have noticed a little bit of a difficulty getting the car into first and 2nd gear at times, but after a little while I've gotten used to it. My biggest problem that I've noticed is that 5th gear grinds all the time even with the clutch all the way down.
I thought the problem was because I was upshifting too high because I like to get on it through 1st and 2nd and then calm down by shifting into 5th and it grinds like a ****. Then when I was racing my buddy in his g35 on the high way I went to shift from 4th into 5th and it also grinded every time. I don't know if something is wrong with the syncs or not but everytime I go to shift into 5th with high rpms this happens.

I've never had a problem with grinding when shifting into 5th. 4-6 are as smooth as can be for me.

Second gear has known to be jerkier than the other gears in this car. I notice the most grinding going into Reverse, but once i put back to neutral then back to reverse it is smooth.

That's what I thought in the beginning, but it's really not that bad. I used to shift from 1-2 as though I'm pulling the shifter straight down (like "|"), which made it seem rough. Instead, try thinking of it as more 1st to neutral to 2nd (the motion looks like a ">").

Haha, kinda difficult to explain, but maybe you'll understand once you try...

the shifter has popped out on me 3 times when it was on 5th.. dunno why. but i think its because i did not fully engage it and kinda half a.ss shifted it.
.
1st to 2nd is less smooth for me compared to other gears. Instead of a straight shift from top to bottom (1st to 2nd) it feels more squiggly.. and it also requires me to hold the shifter like i hold a computer joystick.

I have found shifting into all gears to be quite easy. Maybe it's just because I have the G35C (my last car) to compare with...

Just like the G35, though, I find that you can't just jam it back into second (or it'll sort of catch); if you pull back quickly and lightly, it's nice and smooth.

i think its really rough when our shifting this car from first to second ,,
my dad's civic shifts smoothly than my G
just takes time to getting use to it

one more thing i also noticed it that if you shift from first to second around 3.5-4 k rpm ,, the shifting will be smoother

i hear crazy griding when shifting to 5th sometimes, but i realized that i was giving it too much gas prior to the release of the clutch. i just make sure i throttle less and usually dont have a problem.

I think the JWT clutch and flywheel might help this.
