Does the LSD need to be warmed up before working properly?

I was going around a corner aggressively today on my way home from work and as I put the power down through the corner noticed that I had some wheel spin on the inside wheel. This is typical of a car with an open differential but not something I expected on my G37S.

I had been on the road for about 10 minutes. I then went through another corner and felt both rear wheels break loose and spin this time as I maintained a drift through the corner.

This makes me wonder.. Does the LSD need to be warmed up before it actually starts working properly and sends power to both rear wheels?

I have a G37S which comes with the factory Viscous LSD.

Thanks!

I prefer my LSD on blotter paper. Not syringes for me.

back on topic?

No, you do not have to warm up LSD before using it. Just pop the tab in your mouth. By the way, LSD while driving is a bad idea. sounds like you were having a decent a trip though.

Anyway, do a lot of people drift their car on the way home from work? Maybe I am doing something wrong...

I drift all the way from downtown to Canton 4 days a week. The Grady curve is the best.

Serious digression here, but funny to read!! I would say it is not the LSD that needs to warm up so much as the tires. The LSD doesn't create friction so if the tires are cold, some wheel slip is to be expected, especially if you have only been crusing for 10 minutes. I would assume there would be a light on the dash if there were a problem. I'm sure an Infiniti technician would love to try to reproduce the problem....

LSD does not need to warm up. If anything, what you are experiences are crappy stock tires.

Here's a paranoid what if. What if when I took my car into the dealer for the axel squeak issue, the technician illegally changed out my LSD to a regular open LSD so that he could sell it, or use it on his own car?

I think that's a bit too paranoid. I would think that cars with LSD would get a light if the LSD wasn't working correctly, thus you'd be throwing a code.

I dunno, but DFA.

Yikes, maybe you have been taking some LSD!! Paranoia is a side effect. Seriously though, I highly doubt that scenario.

A better scenario would be when they fixed the axle issue they messed up the way the LSD works??

Because our LSD's are viscous, they do become an open differential if pushed beyond its limits is that not correct?
