NOT good for the tranny.

instead, power brake to about 2500 rpms, then drop the brake and floor the car. this is also not very good for your tranny, but is WORLDS better than the above.

That's murder on your tranny. Just stay on the break and rev the car up to the rpms you wanna launch at. Plus, it won't shift as good in D as it does in DS mode.

Yeah..that would be you neutral dropping..lol which IS NOT good at all

if you do that you'll smell your transmission too..which is also not a good thing

Wow this thread has so much sarcasm. Pretty much, auto tranny's are NOT made to be "shifted." Going from N and revving to 3k and putting it into "D" is highly not recommended. power braking on the other hand may help with a better launch if thats what your after.

If your into driving hard like that, why didn't you opt for a 6mt?

Did this on my first car when I was 16. Ended up paying $2.5k for a new tranny

Spoke to Mike at Riverside Infiniti a few days ago... Said there is actually a Launch Control Type Launch for you Auto guys... Said something about slowly pushing in the gas with your left foot on the brake until you feel the brake pedal sink in... And I dont remember the rest... Invloves some more stuff too... Says you can bring the revs up to about 5K and take off with minimal slippage... I'll call him, hopefully he can chime in... NO B.S. B.T.W...

^^^ The GT-R has Launch Control, yet I heard a local shop blew the rear diff out from a GT-R a few weeks ago for launching. Costs like 16k for the to replace.

Not sure I'd be trying it.
