Slow Upshifts with Paddles!!

Has anyone else experienced somewhat slow upshifts while using the paddles?? There are a few roads on my way home from work that have some tight turns with straightaways connecting where I can wring the engine out right to the redline, I typically click the upshift paddle at 7K rpm, with foot to the floor with a very slow sluggish delay in gear change! I tried it in both D and DS and found that near redline upshifts felt much more crisp and timely. I've had paddle shifters on other vehicles and they never seemed so slow. I am very impressed with the DS mode but wished the transmission was as responsive in paddle shift mode. Anyone have any thoughts on this??

Yea I've heard of a lot of paddle-shifting automatic owners complaining about this... get a Grounding Kit... From Black Bettys Garage... I've heard these have helped this issue well...

Do a search for "grounding kit". You'll find a bunch of threads with people's reviews indicating significant improvement with the DS shifting.

If I recall correctly, post on these forum said you should shift 1k rpm before the redline. So that would be about 6.5k rpm?

Thanks for the info, after reading the Black Betty thread I think I will invest in the Grounding Kit, very inexpensive mod. I'll post a follow up when I get them installed.

I installed a grounding kit in my 5AT, and it was definitely worth it.

I think I kinda stirred up the hoopla about the grounding kit with this thread when I installed the Stillen kit.

https://www.myg37.com/forums/showthr...=grounding+kit

It generated so much interest, Stillen followed it up with a Group Buy which resulted in 30 orders.

I didn't know if it was going to work and I didn't want to send the money for something that might not work. So I made my own from scrape pieces I bought from a car stereo shop. The longest piece was 3 feet and the shortest was 6 inches so I just bought all there left over pieces. The install went very well and worked a lot better than I could have imagined. Also I made it with 12 wires instead of the 6-9 wires the other kits offer. It is probably overkill but it is still cheaper than the cheapest kit out there.
