Most power NA ??
Hey whats happening?
I've been searching for quite a while but haven't really found anything pertaining to the VQ37HR motor specifically... I was just wonder what is the most power anyone has ever gotten out of this thing with out FI?
I'm in love with the G37 and would like to get one since it's getting AWD but after some research the engine seems pretty weak, and it seems difficult to get serious power/torque out of these with FI reliably.
This is why NA is more appealing to me. Do you guys think it would be possible to get 400hp out of these with a major build?

i wouldnt say 400 hp. i say around 350hp is max. you get like 305 with hfc, exhaust, and intake already. headers, cams, reflash, other things should get you 350.

You could easily get 400 hp with a Big Bore kit, cams, headers, exhaust, intakes, and a reflash IMO... But my guess is that it'll cost you a pretty penny when the parts come out for us...

I was impressed with the S2000. 240 hp out of na 4 cylinder and fantastic high end acceleration.
I know that was the highest hp per litre for a NA engine stock at 120hp per litre.
The G37 would need another 30hp to match the Honda engine.

Your logic is slightly flawed. Decreased back pressure does not directly equate to decreased torque.

Hmmm.... With head work and all, my guess would be around 380-400 to the wheels... Maybe more... Hard to really get a good number down considering there isn't much R&D in this area yet...

The G37 already comes with headers from the factory. Not sure how much non-OEM headers can really help? Also the intake already looks pretty free-flowing, again not sure how much you can really get there either?
And a reflash can only do so much with OEM parts (usually advance the timing, and richen the fuel mixture) and can have some negative consequences.
So really to increase the power on a NA motor, you may need to bump the compression ratio (which takes changes to the internal parts). It has been my experience that modems cars come from the factory are pretty well optimized.

I'd haveta go with this answer also, until someone actually tries to do an n.a. build-up of this engine. There's too much speculation involved at this point for any definitive answers.
