This article about the GT-R Warranty pertaining the to VDC has me scared to even turn mine off now! 20k for Master Technicians to fix the broken transmission!

To get the word straight from the horse's mouth, we turned to our source at Nissan who summed up the situation: "Switching VDC off doesn't void the warranty nor does running the Launch Control on the car. However, if someone switches off VDC, enables Launch Control and then breaks something while doing this, we wouldn't pay (under warranty) for the specific parts that break during this action."

From the Manual:
"The VDC system uses an Active Brake Limited
Slip (ABLS) function to improve vehicle traction.
The ABLS system works when one of the driving
wheels is spinning on a slippery surface. The
ABLS system brakes the spinning wheel, which
distributes the driving power to the other drive
wheel. If the vehicle is operated with the VDC
OFF switch pushed and the VDC system turned
off, all VDC systems will be turned off. The ABLS
system and ABS will still operate with the VDC
system off. If the ABLS system is activated, the
SLIP indicator will blink and you may hear a
clunk noise and/or feel a pulsation in the brake
pedal. This is normal and is not an indication of
a malfunction."
That is only part of the manual. It's a great tool and is available in pdf form. It also says VDC cuts power. The sport model has a viscous LSD also. In my experience with VDC off in autoX, there is no loss of power and the ABLS does not seem to hinder the LSD. Of course, in autox we don't like to drift as it wastes TIME and tire.

That system is completely different. It's a launch control system. That system is like a 2 step I use in my MR2. If at the drag strip or wanting to rip it off the line (how Nissan got their 0-60 times), its allows you to put the gas tot he floor and the rpms go to 4500. AS soon as you let off the clutch you're flying. It's VERY hard on the transmission, but it gets you perfect launches every time.
There are lots of discussions on this in the GTR forums. That car has a "black box" system and when that guy took his car in, Nissan flew some techs out to his dealership and they sent the data to Japan. They were able to see EXACTLY what he had been doing with his car.
