x-pipe is better, yields more tq. You can only use it on a setup thats a true dual. You cant put a x system on a greddy ypipe back.

Are there any mustang to infiniti people here? They can tell you all about x and h pipes etc. Its great when you take domestic technology and import design and merge them together. Domestic = x and h pipes and slipfit piping, import = jdm styling and flanges FTW! (slip fit boo). The imports just learned about H because i see them once in a while on a v6 setup, never an x.

How does x-pipe give more tq than y-pipe? And what's y pipe good for then?

On a v engine you want a true dual setup. When the manufacture makes a y then your stucking using an upgraded y. An upgraded Y makes more power on the following: A car with a small diameter tubing which limits flow, a crush bent pipe, a y with cats on it etc (no your y has no cats on it).

Mustangs come with a true dual from teh factory and they tend to come with an hpipe but you have 4 cats on the h pipe setup. So people swap it with an x and also to remove the cats.

How an x works? Its comples but here is a simple description:

When your at a light and a bus passes by you your car gets sucked into the bus. This is simular to an x. When teh exhaust fires from the left and crosses over to the right, it creates a suction in the right head. It also makes the back part of the exhaust look like 1 system hence the balancing the exhaust pulses.

For example (again) On a truck the piping runs on the left side of the truck. The left tailpipe is much longer than the right because it goes to the right, then at the axel it goes back left. Teh x makes the full rear look balanced. There is more to it but thats a quick 101 description.

I did.
Its a full setup though. What you need is for some one to make a full setup form the cats to the stock OEM muffler, that way it works with axel back setups too.

I was actually considering that for the OEM setup. Wit the tanabe rear it will be to loud cause those pans are pretty small, plus if you go the tanabe route, you will need to make sure that you dont plan on upgrading your exhaust much in the future because those pans are really pricey.
