Unichip or other piggyback chip
So I was at a Memorial Day BBQ today and my friend who owns an 07' BMW 335i rolled up and I test drove his newly piggyback chipped Bimmer, OMG that thing had WAY more torque than when he first got it.
Since I don't know anything about car tuning, are piggback chips or Unichips only good for Turbo charged cars? Or are they good for naturally aspirated engines like my G37 as well? I returned my 06' M45(lease) for the new G37, so I'm used to having torque like crazy, just looking for ways to boost it up without having to turbo/supercharing my engine. Thanks yall!

Piggy backs are not only for boosted cars. They benefit you a whole lot even if you only have NA mods. The one to look out for coming out this year is the Cobb Access Port. It will have different maps preloaded that will help you no matter what combo of NA mods you have or if your boosted.

The piggyback chips for turbo-charged cars give you amazing gains with little or no other mods mainly because they can alter the factory boost settings. N/A motors don't have that advantage so any chip in conjunction with N/A mods will still leave you dissapointed if you are comparing the gains to a chipped 335. IMHO of course.

dont expect similiar gains from a 335 to a G37... Realistically think +10HP and you will be flying high! now if you have alot of bolt ons and use the chip to tune the A/Fs then maybe you can get a lil more... but nothing jawdropping...

Actually I have no info on the Unichip, I just heard it from my friends. I'm planning to do an intake and chip combo. Any suggestions for the intake? or shops in L.A./Orange county area for performance mods? Thanks guys!

Wait for the Injen intake like the whole forum is doing. As far as a shop in the LA area, just come down to Amplified Motorsports in Monterey Park. They've done countless G37s already including mine. One of the owner's, Lou, has a G37 as well. Are you in the 626 area?

the technosquare is just an ecu reflash, which means they just tune your stock ecu to whatever current mods you have, but you cannot change that setting without reflashing it again. A piggy back ecu allows you to tune your ecu when you want.
