ECU Toast at 1300 miles
1st post, hoping the future is brighter in regards to my G37. Went to pickup license plates from dealer; didn't have time for them to install. Left went to lunch, came out and started car and I must have released clutch before ignition sequence completed. It bogged a little and I depressed clutch to let is finish starting before actually backing up, I know what a concept. Began to back out and the accelerator wouldn't respond above 1000-1050 RPM range. I dogged it over to a gas station and tryed to restart engine two or three times to no avail. Called roadside and scheduled tow, went into store for a few minutes and came out restarted and it came back online. Cancelled tow, drove to dealer and was explained that it went into "Limp mode", basically third gear and I could have driven it only not over 1050 RPM to protect engine. The tattle tale said first it was the E-Brake applied over 7MPH, I refused to believe that applying an E-brake over 7 MPH would cause the engine to react in this manner a week after the event. Another tech came over and checked another area in the ECU and said it was a 1057 error I think, something to do with the Variable valve lift timing. You can imagine my excitement of the prospect of having a major issue so early on. I told the service MGR and salesman to put me in a loaner and left. Still waiting for the new ECU to arrive today and should have more feedback on the exact issue on a later post. Has anyone had this "LIMP MODE" issue or a bad ECU that needed replacement at or below 2000 miles?????

I stalled mine before (let out the clutch too fast) and it went into limp-mode. Would not reve beyond 2k rpm and was running rough. I pulled over, turned it off and waited a few minutes before turning it back on and it started right up as normal. Haven't had any problems since (and that was probably 6-7k miles ago).....
