This use to happen to me all the time in my '93 NX2000. Turned out to be the clutch cable. Haven't had any issues with the G, though.

Clutch is far from weak in this car.

The pedal sticking is caused by fluid getting too hot. The reason it "resets" is because it cools down. Change the clutch fluid for some DOT4 synthetic and it will feel a lot better.

There's a thread about this on g35driver.com. Search for "clutch sticking complaints"

Thanks mal, good reading right there. My only question is, why should we have to make a mod or add different fluid for a feature that should function normally on a performance car? Doesn't make sense to me, the buyers remorse is setting in.

Replace the clutch fluid until clear, and don't drive aggressively.

So this same logic applies to C5 and C6 Z06 owners? They're spending more money than we did and I found that technique on one of their forums. "Ranger" was advocating doing it once a week on vettes that are driven aggressively.

Unfortunately this is the nature of the beast when it comes to cars like this (it IS behaving "normally"). If you don't want to deal with it, don't drive the car aggressively.

I see he used Valvoline Syn Power Brake Fluid, DOT4

Does this mean that DOT4 Brake fluid can be used interchangeably with the clutch fluid with no problems. So there's no actual clutch fluid it's just the same SH.IT as brake fluid???

Also, Mal, in this forum post they are saying the clutch uses DOT3 brake fluid, not DOT4? but its for the g35 coupe.

DOT4 and DOT3 can be interchanged. You cannot interchange the silicon-based stuff (I think that's DOT5) -- that will ruin your clutch system.

And yes, clutch fluid is just brake fluid. I think I used a different brand Syn DOT4.. either way it'll be better than the DOT3 the car comes with, and most importantly it will be cleaner than what you have.

My G37 has yet to have a sticky clutch (my g35 did it all the time). A few weeks ago I did notice it feeling different (like it was headed towards sticky) so I went ahead and changed it via the process in that thread. Feels great now.

On my G35 I also changed the brake fluid when the brakes started to feel spongy to me.

what if i wanted to change it the good synthetic stuff for the sole purpose of having a smoother more buttery feeling clutch? Do you think the upgrade for that purpose would be a noticeable difference or no?
