Crackling noise from engine....

Hey guys. Quick question. Passed my break-in period and was driving the car hard to my friends house, when I noticed a crackling/poping sound from the engine after I turned it off. It could be the engine cooling off but the noise seemed to be louder than normal. Am I paranoid or is this normal.

Yeah that is normal. It is just cooling down. That is common on aluminum blocks and head

its the sound of the metal contracting. When metal heats up it expands when it cools it contracts.

There is another thread on this it seem that our cars are a bit lowder than others when it comes to this. One person had their Y pipe replaced and the noise went away. Any way do a search and see if you can find the thread. I would do it but am offshore working now and internet is far too slow to be helping others search. Sorry
