09 G37-7 speed auto in US?
Hi all,
This is my 1st post and want to say Hi to everyone
I am not sure if this is a repost or not even a big news anymore. Recently I am thinking to purchase the G37S, but I just read the article from http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080226....rge-for-europe. It says that Infiniti is going to put 7 speed automatic option on G37 and expect this gearbox to find its way into all Infinitis over the next 12 months. With the extra gears, it will improve the fuel consumption and drivability!
My question is are we going to have 09 G37 w/ 7 speed in US around this summer? Also is this new 7 speed tranny same as skyline GTR's tranny?

Well I really dont understand why G37 has only 5 speed auto! Really bad decision. Look at those same level's car. They all come with 6 speed auto as standard! GTR comes with 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission (same technology as SMG or DSG). I think they should install the same tranny to G37. This will be a happy ending and I will buy it in a sec!
So there is no 6speed auto (what r they thinking) and we wont be able to get the 7 speed until 2010? Maybe I should just lease one and wait.

I definitely believe that Infiniti will introduce this as a mid MY upgrade to keep customers interested (MY 2010), but CarAddict brings up a good point, the 5 speed has been proven in many applications, but a new transmssion with this type of complexity could be buggy when it first comes out. Reminds me of the 4 speed auto when they first paired it with the V6 on the Accords.
