Read about the Torque Converter component of an automatic transmission and you will understand quite clearly what is happening.

This is the main difference between an automatic and a manual or clutchless-manual gearbox. The latter have mechanical linkage between engine and drivetrain, whereas the former has a fluid linkage. Yes, the TC locks up at speed but anytime you are shifting gears it releases again.

Totally normal and characteristic of all automatic cars that have a torque converter. Same piece of hardware that allows you to creep in traffic without doing any shifting

Yeah in my old G35 ther ewas no lag issue. I agree that I think it is th rev matching.

Like someont else said to eliminate the lag, floor it then "click" or double gas it.

I might not be comparing oranges to oranges... but Toyota had serious "lag" when you floor it. Such as an emergency situation, or just want some power.

My Honda Accord... man, I loved the shifting on it... Floor it, and the car instantly goes down gears without too much thinking... I hope the G isn't too bad... I always heard that Nissan's/Infiniti's have one of the smoother tranny's out there.
