Increase torque?

I know the G37 lacks a bit in the torque department (especially compared to the 335i), but do you think a couple years down the line, Infiniti will tweak the engine to help alleviate this? Kind of like the engine upgrade done halfway through the G35's generation.

i wouldn't be surprised if nisaan/infiniti played with the tune a little but...i mean look at the VQ35...in the 350Z it went from the DE, to the rev-up, to the HR from 03 to 07! to give an idea of how far they have gone...the VQ35DE has been clocked at 14.0-14.1 in the 1/4 by mags and 13.6-13.7 by track goers...the HR has been clocked at 13.7 in the 1/4 by mags and 13.3-13.5 by track goers....that's HUGE.

definatley more to come from the VQ37HR...

Mid-range torque is where it's at with the G. I like it there and it's a blast to drive. Buy the bmw, corvette, hemi, yada yada if you are looking for a stump puller, 'cause you won't find it here.

Just wondering. I think the 335i is a great car, but I've had my eye on the G37 for a VERY long time, so I'm really leaning toward that. I guess I will have a better idea of what 270 ft/lb feels like once I get behind the wheel of one...I'm sure it's an upgrade from my 195 ft/lb on my accord lol.

The pull on a G37 is enough for anyone to have a blast with.

Ya the torque in the G37 is fine. I pulled onto the highway where I live and as I was heading up the on ramp. I put it into second gear but I hit the gas a little to soon before letting off the clutch. The rear end fishtailing a little bit and my tires spinning is quite exciting.

if they do something dont expect some crazy numbers. You wont be seeing the 300lbs the 335 makes

If you want torque assuming the transmission is the same as what is in the 3.5HR 350Z the rear end may be the same. Re gearing the rear would shorten the gearing thus getting you into your powerband faster.

IF it is the same rear end in the 350Z I would say you probably want to add 3.93 gears seeing as the 4.10s would accelerate you a bit too fast and may cause discomfort in the daily feel of the car. This is also assuming it is the 6MT.
