Question 5AT manual mode, rev limiter?

I was wondering if cars equipped with a 5AT and paddle shiffters, if you drive the car in manual mode, and keep it in a gear, will it bounce off the rev limiter, and wait for you to shift, or will the car automatically shift into the next gear at redline without you selecting the next gear via the paddles?

Not sure what other people have had for experiences, but back when I first test drove the car I had it in second and wasn't paying attention, sure enough I hit the rev limiter, it bounced off a couple of times and it only shifted when I hit the paddle. I would never do this on my own car, but I would assume it would display the same behavior.

In manual mode, it will not upshift until you shift it. I love that it is setup like that.

Why would you never do this? I know it's not ideal but it is called a Rev LIMITER for a reason.. just fyi

^^ Yah, it won't shift, but it serioulsy lowers the output for a second or two while you screw with its mind. I forgot I was in M once: just as I approached redline I remembered to grab the paddle, but because of the 5 minute delay for paddle shifts it hit redline and bogged some, then shifted and held RPMs at 5K or so for 2 seconds before it was back on full output.

Since most people are too afraid of nearing redline in there cars, as they are still "breaking in"...i doubt most people know that right b4 the shift as it hits 7500rpm it gives you a split second to shift....if any of you have driven a E46 SMG M3 its just like that delay in between the gear changes.
