G37x w/R2C Today's Dyno

I had my '09 g37x 7AT/R2C sedan Dyno'd today for the first time. Test was performed on a Mustang Dyno. Temp was about 75. Pulls were done in 4th gear with VDC off. I was hoping for a bit more...
Max whp = 270
Max tq = 227

I'd like to hear your opinions.

Thanks,
MacNH

Mustang typically read low but yeah not very impressive. +1 on before intake dyno number.

That doesn't seem too bad on a Mustang dyno

Yes, Mustang's read considerably lower than DynoJet's. Those numbers are good for a Mustang dyno and AWD G37. My 6MT put down very similar numbers on a Mustang dyno (no intakes, but with exhaust and tune). You have nothing to worry about. Dynos are a tuning tool, and unless you have a before dyno, I am not sure that it really matters.

The R2C intakes are nice, but don't expect big gains from any SRI. It pains me to say this, but the only intake I have seen produce consistent 10HP gains is the Stillen 3G.

For comparison sake, here is my Mustang dyno chart for my 6MT RWD. This is tuned, but with the stock exhaust. If you can't read it, I did 262HP/227TQ. I put down 270HP/230TQ with the Invidia exhaust, but I can't find the chart....

Thanks for the replies... I did not do a before/after dyno with the R2C. Wish I had...
I love the sound of it, but from this dyno it doesn't look like its making me much if anything.
What are the thoughts on the AFR of 11.8?

I guess I feel humbled by my buddy who was with me today. 2010 S4 stock + intake and he put down 324whp! I didn't expect to have similar numbers as him, but 54HP whp...That car is sooo under rated.

I had mine dyno'd yesterday too. Pulled 277HP/235TQ. Got R2C and Magnaflow CBE. Really don't know if that's good or what not...just know the car feels and sounds better when I drive it and that's important to me.

The R2C do give good gains as seen with a recent before/after by alphaice the mid range (usable) is very good, for X those are good numbers on a mustang dyno, you would have put out more on the others.

Also your AFR can use a tune to help you gain some power, id say getting it to 12.5 would be ideal imo.

The R2C do sound great, and I think that is really the big advantage with them (nothing wrong with that). They also add a few HP, and provide better filtration.

11.8 is fine, and it won't hurt anything. I would like to be a little leaner, but you won't have any issues there. 12 to mid-12's is the most efficient from a fuel burning and power standpoint.

And, yes, I think you are seeing why I am going with an S4.... Way under-rated from the factory. Everyone I have seen is putting down 320+ AWHP on a dyno. As soon as I finish my break-in, I am going to dyno mine on the same Mustang dyno I did my G37 on.

that's not too shabby. my fully bolted on g (minus headers and pulley) laid down 294/242 (tuned). at the moment, i'm trying my best to deal with the weight of the car; waiting for some forged wheels.

Mine was on a Dynojet Dyno and I got good results, but no tune. I also had hfc, so I'm sure some of my gains were having the restriction from that gone too. Definitely pulls harder under the curve. Gen3 is more power up top but not as good under the curve, plus the engine is more responsive imo with a SRI and much easier to clean vs having to remove the bumper and clean the system with an oiled system vs the dry filter. It's all about the benefits that are important to you, I can tell my car pulls harder. My friend with a FI exhaust put down a bit higher numbers, which I'm not surprised about. I'm gonna do a dyno after I do an exhaust and then a M370 and see where I end up. Then what a tune will do so I can show my progress for other ppl

dude, what did you expect with just an intake, that's literally not even considered a CAI? By installed R2C's, you basically just upgraded the filters and opened up the intake boxes.

You just have to be more realistic about it I guess. What HP #'s were you expecting from the intakes alone @ the wheels bro?
