I'm going to order another socket and give it one more try with a little more patience and finesse. Fingers crossed, this go around goes smoothly.

Thanks, Gents, the input is truly appreciated. I was racking my brain on how else I could have done it, maybe I should have done this or that, used less force, etc.

This time around I said eff it given the force it would take for the shifter to pop out of the cup and how long it takes to get the part. Good luck

To follow up on this, I installed the second cup and STILL struggled to get it on. I used less force and tried to be more delicate but cracked one of the teeth getting it back on anyway.

I did but the second time, I barely cracked one of the teeth. Here's how mine looked after smacking the stock shifter out broke almost all the teeth. Going back in, if you're careful hopefully you won't break any...on my second attempt I had a one of them crack slightly. Ultimately the pivot ball sits below them and you'll see it's not going anywhere once in.
I hope helps.

Question for the group...what are the shifter shaft thread specs? Looking for shift *****, but not 100% sure what actually fits. Is it M10x1.25? How long is the threading?

Found some interesting info on a Subaru Forum from WC LatheWerks regarding materials and shapes of shifter *****. The only material I didn't see discussed was wood. It's post #3

I am “patiently” awaiting delivery of my STS... places my order in February but am having a very difficult time getting an update. Did anyone else experience problems when dealing with TWM?

There's always the Torque Solutions STS, as another option:

I think the issue here is we already paid for one... at least I did in February
Edit: I chose the TWM because they are Canadian and I would avoid duty charges, plus I didn’t see any poor reviews.

How close are you to TWM store, I wonder if any forum members are in the local area of them that can get some more info for us.
