GTR being built!
#31
I am stopping in on Saturday. Talked to the boys up there and the Clutch and flywheel came in yesterday as did the Piping for the exhaust and the Aluminum for the intakes. We are still scratching out heads on how we are going to size our end tanks. Most of the tear down will happen tomorrow so I can get a chance to help them out while I'm available. The Power FC just arrived and I have to pick it up from Alamo along with 2 MAP sensors. But this will definately take a while.

*Update*
We contacted Full Race to make some custom Turbo manifolds (Top mounted) with a T3 flange instead of the stock T28 flange. This will allow us to mount up some Garrett GT3076RS (or bigger) turbos with an externally wastegated system rather than the smaller internally wastegated GT2876RS turbos. The problem is.....Full race has to custom fabricate the maifolds and that is basically going to to 2 minutes from never to do. (Sigh) it will be a while before we see the GTR again.

LOL.
Some shifts have been made in the interest of availability and practicaility (not to say bigger is not to come later)
My broken transmission and pull type clutch have been tossed aside in favor of a ATS triple carbon clutch and another GTR transmission courtesy of a Freshalloy.com member.
The transmission will arrive next week via freight shipping (not the cheapest shipping ever). A new slave cylinder and 300zx Bell housing will go on.
A pair of Garrett GT2860R's will go on (low mounted) Ported and polished manifolds. Custom Intake piping and aluminum turbo piping. Custom front mount w/ custom end tanks.
An APEXi 276 lph in-tank fuel pump and Nismo fuel pressure regulator (with custom steel braided lines and full return fuel system) feeding 880cc injectors, will take care of the fuel delivery.
APEXi Power FC is waiting to be dropped in and tuned on a MAP basis (no MAFs)
I also grabbed a set of Tomei Poncams 260/ 9.15 lift cams.
Custom exhaust, downpipe, and wastegate dump. Tial BOV and Greddy Boost controlled.
A set of custom stitched Bride reclining race seats with a couple of 4 point harnesses and Revamped Tein suspension.
A new painted front bumper and a Greddy Oil cooler to top it off.
Looks like 600 awhp at 18 psi.
It will be wrapping up in September and coming to a Motorsport Ranch near you.

I refuse to turn this car into a friggin 1,000 hp Supra that's ONLY good above 80 mph. Plus 800+ would scare the crap out of me.
The only way it can be described best is by a post from Freshalloy.com:
With twins, full boost hits at just over 4000 rpms and kicks like a mule
With a single, nothing happens until 5800 rpms and then it tries to rip your limbs off.
I prefer to keep my body parts in tact (and my car)

I rather have top end instead of run out of juice at the end of my rpms.
Dyno dip before top of powerband <<< dyno still climbing at top of powerband

Here's my crappy dyno with a little ignition issue:

Hey DWF, Austin G35 driver here. I just moved here to Austin not too long ago. I've been wanting to attend some Nissan or G35 meets so I can meet people with their cars and learn some best set-ups for my '04 6MT G35. My car of course is still stock but would love to slowly build it up the right way. Is there any meets being planned in Dallas anytime soon?

I know we all are beginning to doubt this build is actually happening but it is so hold tight for a couple of weeks and she'll be done. The pallet with the Transmission, Cams, Fuel Pump, Fuel Pressure Regulator, showed up today.
So Now the following parts are HERE:
-Garrett GT2860R turbos
-Front Mount
-ATS Clutch
-Apex 276 Fuel Pump
-Nismo FPR
-88cc Injectors
-PowerFC w/ commander
-Tial BOV
-Aluminum for hard piping
-Stainless Steel for Downpipe and Exhaust Fabrication
-Tomei Cams
Still Waiting on:
-Bride Seats
-Oil Cooler
-Koyo Radiator
-Front Bumper Re-Spray
-New Transmission
-Greddy Boost Controller
So the build is happening with what we have and won't be ready for the better part of 3 weeks. Then the other stuff arrives and that will tack on another week or so. We are looking at like end of September some time. In time for HIN hopefully. And Maybe by then we will have picke out some wheels to replace those ugly ones on there now.

OK so apparently I broke the links to the above stuff....sorry about that here is a reports of all the pics plus some new ones.
Update:
Not much to marvel at today, but the IC and BOVs come off in place of the 50mm Tial BOV. (note: the end tank pictured will not be the size of the outlet when the build is complete).
