DIY: Adding dipstick to your 7AT
#46
Here is quoted what I got back in an email before they cancelled my order.
"Good morning,
The pieces that you are asking for I have ordered in before. What will arrive is no more than what your car has on it now. The factory does not supply us anything to give a client to be able tho check the fluid level. The techs at the dealership access your level thru computers. So in a nutshell the car needs to go to the dealer to be checked. If you have seen no leaks you should be good to go. About every sixty thousand miles we flush the fluid out while replacing it with new. I will cancel the payment and order.
Jack Pearson"
So now where do i turn to get all of these parts?

Your mistake was providing the information for the vehicle that you want to add the dipstick to.
You "should" have provided the vehicle information for a vehicle that came with this from the factory, if at all (I'd say to not provide it unless it was required).
Ebay will be your next option.....
Here are some that "might" work, but you will most likely have to remove some of the welded on brackets like I did and "possibly" shorten the length of the tube below the O-Ring that goes into the transmission. Just make sure that it has the flag to be able to bolt it to the transmission......

You'll have to view any not G35 part and try to "visualize" if it would (could) work and then decide on if you'll take the $$$ risk in case it doesn't.

I wonder if your Name/Address/ or some other thing that you had to provide is somehow within the Infiniti Database????
Try responding to the email and state that you're needing these items for a friends car and ask that they re-submit the order.

Just throwing this out there...
Has anyone tried discountinfinitiparts.com? Actual dealership, actual parts department. From personal experiences Sid has helped me several times finding obscure parts. I never had luck with those other googled parts places.
Just a suggestion...

Yes we have tried them as well. I too only provided the parts I needed. I did not provide any information whatsoever about my actual car.
The other dealer I tried was also unable to get the parts and even gave me a link to the exact thread saying I my try try this...

Dip stick
is the pathfinder dip stick the exact length to gauge the oil in myg37x?
#55
Yes @Ileri Adebolu , if you use the complete assembly (Tube & Dipstick).

I found the part numbers after running my 2008 (5AT) VIN:
Pipe Assembly: 31080-EY00B ($37.12);
Dipstick: 31086-EY00A ($15.43);
O-Ring Seal: 31084-20301 ($3.06);
Bolt: 31377-JL01A ($2.71).
Prices quoted as of 8 June 2019 from discountinfinitiparts.com
Hope this helps our 7AT members!

.... It appears that you didn't read my prior post (#31/#39/#47/#53) and the other post where other people have tried to order a dipstick from a dealer...... smh.....
Ok.... one last time......
These are No Longer Available From a Dealer. Anyone who is wanting to add a Dipstick will Have To Source it from a Junkyardor Ebay.
You "MAY ALSO" have to use a Dipstick from a different Infiniti or Nissan Vehicle. Look through the Prior Post for Other "Possible" Vehicles.

Hey its been a while and I apologize, work has kept me busy as well as college. I have noticed.. at least with my G is my fluid level is off when I do check it. Like its higher. I verified that the level is correct on the fill plug side. I'm sure most of you figured that out tho 😅. The 7at is definitely a different kind of transmission as its fluid level is different to that of the 5at. I think I might 'scribe' it to the proper level on the dipstick. It's weird I know. But I will admit it's nice being able to check the level and condition of the fluid without crawling under the car.
Sadly here's an update, I will say I am looking for another transmission... Nothing to do with this modification at all. No problems from that. She was heavily neglected and spent sometime in 'Mexico' 😅😅 what can you expect, was a dumb 23 year old at the time. But I did a service on her last year, fluid was incredibly black and she had almost 140k on the clock. And it never was serviced, I'm sure of that. And assumed it was serviced before at the time but... yeah She's not happy. Had I had known better, I would've done it immediately when I got her at 106k odo but yeah I'm having torque converter lock up issues and she flares doing 3-4 shifts unless I'm getting on her. Looks like a VR 7at swap is in order haha.
I hope you gents are doing well with all the Covid nasty stuff out there. And hope all your G's are doing well! Be safe everyone! 😁

No but I know of friends who have. Look up 'Infiniti Bros' on youtube. He did it on his as the VR transmission is basically same as our VQ in many ways but far different in others, as in stronger. More clutches in clutch packs, triple disk torque converter, the works. But it is longer due to the bigger bellhousing for said torque converter. Its almost a direct bolt on. But these are the things you need to know:
1. You need to swap the TCU from the old transmission into the new one, otherwise the ECU and TCU won't get along as it's meant for a totally different engine. You can use the solenoids in the new transmission as they are the same as the old. But the circuit board itself needs to be swapped out.
2. You need to either get a 1 piece driveline or shorten the stock one as again, the transmission is longer. Which leads to...
3. you need to modify the transmission mounting brace, again, due to the length of the transmission. Its not terrible nor do I see it ruining the strength of the brace to modify it. And everyone who has done this swap as done this with much luck. Besides, I rather not drill into the car's chassis itself 😅 I love my baby.
4. This is important, you have to relocate the crank positioning sensor. On the VR, its in a different spot on the bellhousing than on the VQ. This does require cutting a slot in the bellhousing but I don't see it affecting integrity anyways doing this. And even if so, its so miniscule to me anyways.
Optional: change the flexplate, they are prone to cracking, either with a new(er) one or a fast intentions flex plate (yes its expensive at 1k but if you tend to rail the throttle and drive spiritedly or want to make good power either by super or turbski's, trust me.. You're gonna want it.) It's totally up to you but to me, you're already there, its just a thought. Do your rear main seal. Not leaking? May as well change it anyways cuz again, you're already there. But it's optional and up to you.
Here's a video of my friend doing the swap. He's also learning as well but this is a good example of what needs to happen. InfinitiBros. Btw his car is boosted and he almost nuked his transmission, it was slipping so baaad 😁 disclaimer: it is long, he does cuss a bit, and he is still learning like the rest of us. 🙂 anyways:
Be safe guys 😄
