Thanks for the DIY.
I tried a different fix than the Velcro or felt. I used this and it's working great so far. When you clip the cowling back down it holds the stripping very firmly.

Just to put this to rest...(sorry I'm obsessed )
There is supposed to be a seal for the top of the cowl. I didn't get one... But you can order one for the discounted price of $42.73...originally $62.84...

And I'm leaving this alone...

Nice idea Vivid, thanks.
There are no pictures left in this thread, can I assume the rubber strip pushes onto the high-side edge of the cowl and just presses down when reinstalling?
Is it very visible after installing?

No. It's very hard to see. FWIW, mine is still going strong after many washes and rainstorms. I will keep it in mind, however, when I'm scraping snow or ice off the windshield.

I couldn't load them either. The link is corrupted. I just went to this thread for the FSM:

Funny, I was just looking at the FSM for diagrams myself.
While following your link to the ebay listing I spotted this: It looks more like the cross-section of the OEM cowl seal however I cannot tell if the dimensions are the same since the OEM does not have measurements. Interesting though.

see my post #8 - no need to remove anything, just take off connectors to loosen the cowl covers.

Ever find out what was rattling behind your dash?

i think it was stuff rolling around in my armrest, or my shades in the overhead compartment. took glovebox apart and found nothing. i put pieces of foam rubber in both those locations to keep stuff from rolling around and its been quiet. sure as hell sounded like it was coming from the glovebox area, though.
i do still have a very small rattle from the glovebox area i hear from time-to-time. i will get in there with some adhesive-backed felt when i get a chance ....

Fix the "TOP OR BOTTOM" of the cowl
Which or both fixes most noise, foam along the windshield where the cowl is visible, or foam/velcro/felt at the bottom where one has to remove the whole deal? Im trying to avoid excess work or busting those clips etc. Im not too savvy.

I just took Landshark's idea and installed an $8 http://www.ebay.com/itm/272056947494?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT.
Except for a flathead screwdriver to lift the clips and a knife to cut the excess, It was a totally tool-free operation.
I did not have to remove the wipers.
Just pull up the pop-clips, remove the compartment covers, remove the pop clips on the cowls and pull up the lower corner rubber window strip (6" piece)
My window was making popping noises and getting increasingly more frequent as the temperature dropped. I installed it last night, and this morning it was 20 degrees outside. Drove an hour to and from work without a peep.
It looks OEM:
In fact my '07 FX35 has a very similar strip in place straight out of the factory and never made a sound. Goodness knows why they stopped using it but I can say there are several more advanced things in my '07 FX that somehow got left off my '13 G37
Now that I've done it I could probably do it again in less time than it took to write up this post...maybe I just type slow.
