Brake Booster Diagnose/Inspection/Easy Repair

Does your brake feels soft on initial bite. Or even worse you don't have any feed back on braking when you thread your brake pedal.

This is common symptoms after brake job; rotors, bleeding and etc. So before spending a fortune on auto repair costs. Following easy steps below, can help you diagnose and most cases repair the issues regards to your brake booster.

  • Operation
    • Depress brake pedal several times at 5-second intervals with engine stopped.
    • Fully depress your brake pedal and start your engine.
      • Until brake pedal can not go further into lower dash.

  • Re-calibrate your brake booster
    • Run the engine at idle for 1 minute
      • This process apply vacuum on your booster.
    • Depress brake pedal several times at 5-second intervals until you feel increase in brake pedal to lower dash.

  • Checking your results
    • While engine still running Depress the brake pedal fully.
    • Stop the engine with your brake pedal fully depressed.
      • Check the brake pedal stroke does not change for 30 seconds.

Note: Slight clicks may be felt or heard. But this is normal during the above operation. Take your car for a test drive.

Sometimes it is not instant fix, however you will gradually feel more pressure from your brake pedal. Repeat above process if you feel the need to do so.
