Anyone have advice on how to hard wire a radar?

I just bought a Passport 9500ix and was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to hard wire the radar detector to the car? I've seen some people selling a radar wire that taps into a fuse, but I'm not even sure where the fuse box on our cars is. If I go that route; what's the easiest place to find a ground wire? I'm planning on getting a rear view mirror mount for the radar as well.

Thanks in advance for any help

There is a couple blank fuse spots in a fuse box under the steering wheel dash to the left of the left foot rest

Best place is to tap the power from the rear view mirror. there are 3 wires, one is neg the black one, and then one is constant 12v and the other is acc 12v, so itll only turn on with the engine. this is where i have mine hooked up. to tap it i used small gauge single strand wire and put it inside the connector. this is the best way as the wire only has to be like 4 inches

My question exactly. Hope you can help. I am taking delivery Saturday so I cannot try it myself

I have a Valentine 1 and the direct wire adapter; is there space up there for the adapter that is 1-3/8" x 3/4 x 3/4.

Also, The direct power adapter has an inline 2a fuse. Would that be removed, or left in. I suspect that circuit is fused, but if it is higher amperage, don't want to fry the V1. What is the color of the switched lead?

Thanks

John

green to black, red to brown. The holes in the socket is a tight fit for the G37 though. I actually broke my inviscord pin because of that LOL. Going to manually tap into those wires this weekend..

Radar-Mirror

V1 or passport, This is by far the most elegant solution =D

The display is seamlessly integrated into the rear view mirror and you can hide away all the awful clutter and equipment. Not to mention is really cool =D

Stealth cord and Mikes mount is all you need as long as you have the powered home link mirror.
