Smoke the infiniti symbol

Hello All,

I was wondering what paint can I buy if I want to smoke the Infiniti symbols on the trunk. I saw a member do it on his IPL and looked really good. But I can't find a smoke color paint .

Duplicolor has a smoke colored paint in their metalcast line that's supposedly made to be sprayed on plastic chrome. Haven't tried it myself. Other people have used tint colored polycarbonate paint like model paint from Tamiya. Good luck

Duplicolor has a product called shadow which gives the appearance of "Black Chrome". My friend tested it on the back of his chrome rims to test it out and it looked pretty sick. we're gonna do the rims with this. check it out.

I saw the thread too, he did have an airbrush, and he used I think PPG automotive paint or something. I sent him 2 PM's about the process, but he never got back to me. I'm interested as well. His emblems were painted chrome black.

My original plan was to get those tail light smoke paint and then shoot clear over it. But those tail light smoke spray cans are hard to find.

Gentlemen, I'm pretty sure I can duplicate the "black chrome" appearance with a very over-reduced black basecoat and clearcoat. I will test it at my shop next week and post pics/updates for you guys. If all goes accordingly I will let you know how to do or get it done.

Yeah as long as I'm 100% satisfied with the final product. I can't sell something I'm not personally happy with. Let me run some tests on some emblems and ill let u guys know what's up
