DIY: Grounding kits made simple, step by step guide to making your own!

To the OP, I used your DIY with 8 guage OFC and wow....is there a difference in AT shifting. Its kinda scary at times, when shifting into second the car kicks like a mule and the tires chirp too. Gotta say, very pleased!

Thank you so much for this DIY. I followed it exactly and couldn't be more pleased on my 7AT. The shifts are a lot quicker especially in manual shifting mode. I also noticed the audio seems clearer and louder. From all I read this mod doesn't affect performance aside from the quicker shifts, but I actually shaved .3 seconds off my 1/4 time! I didn't expect any improvement in time since the only difference was the grounding wires from my last run. I was shocked but I guess weather could also have played a part. No complaints from me either way.

This mod makes sense in the fact there is less resistance. I am curious for those of you who did this mod if you are still feeling the difference as you did right from the start. Is it possible the adaptive transmission reset from the battery being disconnected and had to learn driving patterns again? Or are you still experiencing better shifting. Thx

Decided to do this last nite while installing my R2C intake. Nice n easy! Thanks for the instructions. Did it with a $14.99 amp install kit from frys...cheap way to get 20ft of 8ga and flex wrap. A $4.99 pack of 8ga and 4ga ring terminals.... a $4.99 Bootleg Brewery Pale Ale(not optional).... wrapped it all up in flex wrap and voila done. Thanks AZg37!

Great DIY
I just installed this and it was very easy to make. Great job on the DIY and write up. I will say that I am a driving enthusiast and drive my G37 in DS mode 95% of the time. After installing the kit the DS Mode was dramatically better! The shifts are smooth and quicker and no where need as harsh as they used to be. The acceleration is smoother because of this too as another user mentioned you dont have to "time" your shifts for the delay anymore and miss the power band. I always wondered what grounding kits did and know i will make sure to have one on every vehicle I own. Thanks again!!!

I agree. I just installed this setup using the DIY. It works perfectly and I drive my car in DS mode and track it. It is dramatically better when it shifts or I use the paddles. Great write up and the acceleration is smoother too. The car actually feels more stable at 120-130 mph now too. Wonderful upgrade. Thanks!!!!

I am wondering what kind of tools did you guys use to crimp the wires? I decided to do this in 4 gauge wires. I found the terminals are so hard to crimp. Also at some of the connection do I have to connect 2 wires into 1 terminal?? I appreciate any help or suggestion. Thanks

Excellent write up. $25 in parts from my local hardware store and an hour of my time to assemble the the kit. As suggested, a hammer works like a charm to crimp the cables. I also used heat shrink to cover the ends for a more uniform look. Waiting to do the install now.
thx

Sounds like this DIY is the way to go. Unlike the majority of people in this thread, I have a 6MT. Are the effects basically the same?
A good friend of mine did a grounding kit on his 6MT 02 Maxima, and said it was great.
I'm going to do this either way, but I just want some feedback. Anything is appreciated. Thanks!
